An annular solar eclipse will be visible May 20 from eastern Asia, the Pacific Ocean, and much of the North American West Coast. A total solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes between the Earth and the sun, casting a shadow that blocks out the suns light. But in an annular eclipse, the moon is too far from the Earth and the suns light isnt completely blocked. Instead, a thin ring of glowing fire will be visible around the black circle that is the moons shadow.
