AT&T Moto X soak test ramping up
Aug 4, 2014

Motorola has sent out an email to folks registered as official testers for the AT&T Moto X. This is the first round, where we're asked to take a little survey to make sure we're interested. If everything goes according to plan, users will see a new email with further instructions to get started soak-testing.

This almost has to be Android 4.4.4.

How to insert and replace the SD card on the LG G3
Aug 4, 2014
Expand your storage by up to another 128GB in seconds by putting in an SD card

In most regions the LG G3 comes with a hearty 32GB of internal storage, leaving nearly 25GB for you to use as you wish. As is often the case, one size never fits everyone and if you need more than 32GB in your mobile device, you'll have to resort to using an external SD card to expand it. The LG G3's MicroSD card slot supports up to 128GB cards, giving you more room than you'd likely ever be able to fill.

If you've decided to expand the storage capabilities of your LG G3, it's super easy to get that SD card in your phone and get to using it. Here's your simple guide for inserting or replacing the SD card in your LG G3.

Google Play Books 101: Managing your library
Aug 4, 2014
Google Play Books makes it easy to save books to your device, as well as remove and delete them

As the name suggests, Google Play Books lets you purchase and read books on your Android device. In the sense that it turns your device into an eReader, you might say it's similar to a Kindle or a Nook.

Google's actually made it pretty easy to manage your library. You can buy and save new books to your device. Play Books also provides a way to remove books from your device, which is particularly useful if you want to free up some storage space, and you can still read books with an Internet connection if you do this. If you don't like a book, you can completely delete it from your library instead.

This week's sidebar poll: How do you secure your lockscreen?
Aug 4, 2014
Do you keep your phone locked? If so, how?

We're big proponents of using a secure method to keep prying eyes out of our phones here at AC. There's a lot of private and personal information on our phones, and letting someone have full access to them isn't a good idea. Besides, it's really easy to use a method to control who can get in and how.

I'm in love with the "trusted connected device" method, where your phone gets locked if it's not connected to a predefined device or network.

Android Central app gets a few fixes, one new forum feature
Aug 4, 2014

A quick heads up, folks, that an update's on the way for the official Android Central app. Bugfixes, mostly, but we've also added deep linking for our forums.

There's good news and bad news with that. The basic deep linking means that if you tap a link that goes to a forum or thread from or app, or an e-mail, or somewhere else (Twitter and Facebook are still a pain because they shorten links on their own), you should get the option to open it in the app. Chrome is also a little finicky with that, and we've got more work to do there as well. So no deep linking from Chrome.
